Kawasan Falls - Unforgetable Hiking

Every time I visit Cebu island, the capital city is always the destination. I never thought that the island has more to offer. With my ever fun-loving "road-trippers", we set a date and head to Kawasan Falls.
Kawasan Falls

Our first destination was not actually Kawasan Falls. The waterfalls were only our side-trip. We're four in a group - Jason and Grah, and me and Walter - in two motorcycles. We're great friends, badminton buddies, and hilarious road-trippers.
This is Jason and Walter. They're looking for the shallow area.
We paid for the entrance fee. It was Php 15.00.
This is Jason, Grah, and me. We're really joking, talking, laughing, and everything while hiking. Truly an unforgetable hike.
Well anyway, how to get there? Let me take you with me.

From Dumaguete City, we went to Sibulan, Negros Oriental (5 km). A barge that could carry cars, buses, and motorcyles took us to Cebu Island. If you're from another country, simply Google Cebu Island, and book a trip. From Cebu City, 130 km southwest is your route.
The hikers. Walter brought my bag, because I was complaining the whole time. Poor me. I should have brought a backpack.
Kawasan has three waterfalls. It is located in Badian, Cebu. This captivating place is 1.5 km away from the main road. After we parked our motorcycles, we started hiking along the ravishing Matutinao River. You must be really fit, because the hiking could take long if you have lot of things with you. While hiking, the scenic view thrilled us. We fastened our paces to get there quickly.
Only locals are allowed to pass here with their vehicles.
This is Matitunao River. The water looks really refreshing.

A never-ending walking and hiking. This was almost lunch time, so the sun was really hot.
As we moved along, this rock formation was beautiful. We stopped by and posed.
We're crossing the bridge. It means we're getting nearer.
We're passing from this old bridge.
I couldn't help, but pose when the camera clicks.
Dam site to control the flow of the water.
The first waterfall was really captivating. It's the largest among the three waterfalls in  Kawasan. There were many cottages alongside. It ranges from 1500.00 to 3000.00 in Philippine Peso (Php). There were also tables for Php 300.00 to Php 500.00. Amenities were raft, which was for Php 300.00 and life vest for Php 50.00. These rates are affordable, and the money is for the maintenance of the place.
First waterfall in Kawasan Falls.
We hiked once more to get to the second waterfall. It's not that big, and there were few people relaxing. That maybe because the waterfall is small. We moved on to the last waterfall. We're short-breathed at this time, and we really wanted to settle to a comfy place.
We're already exhausted.
A glimpse of the second waterfall.
The third Kawasan waterfall was bigger than the second one, but there were people singing in Videoke machine. There were less tourist in this area, so we decided to go back to the first waterfall.
I really love Kawasan Falls. This isn't the third waterfall. This is one of the passage way of the water that goes down to the third waterfalls below.
mighty water.
I still managed to smile even with my aching legs.
The trek downhill was quite a journey than going up. I really had to get hold of the trees and branches to keep from falling. My bag was quite heavy. We finally reached the first waterfall and settled for the most comfortable cottage. We didn't have food, and we're too exhausted to start exploring the place. I went to sleep. lol Yes, seriously, I slept for an hour or more. I didn't bother the noise and people chatting around me.
One of the beautiful spot in the Earth.

We enjoyed the place and took plunged into the cold water. My friend took lot of beautiful shots, and we're his enthusiastic models.
A good massage from that water was really good.
You maybe thinking I didn't swim. but, you're totally RIGHT. lol I just changed clothes, and stayed just right there where I stand.

We left Kawasan Falls by early afternoon. We still have another destination for that day. It was truly a memorable visit. I wanted to stay more, but I was anticipating to see the white sand of Moalboal, Cebu.

Thank you so much for visiting. Till next time. I hope I can share my Masskara and Buglasan Festival getaway this November. I stopped posting swimming pools and beach resorts lately, because I'm afraid I tire you with those kinds of getaways. Thank you as well for the comments. I am visiting your blogs. Promise!

Just me,
Phioxee

PS thank you to Walter Grapa for the photos.
